It all began in 1976 when a small steel fabrication business started by Wolfgang Schroeter began manufacturing steel railings in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. At that time, no one imagined the incredible future that lay ahead for Wolf Steel Ltd. And eventually .... Continental Fireplaces.

Since the first woodstove rolled off the production line in 1979, Wolf Steel's commitment to success was to be distinctive and successful in everything they do. The original stove featured a solid cast iron two-door design and was produced in a one thousand square foot manufacturing facility. In 1981, the first single glass door wood stove was introduced, a first in the industry, using Pyroceram high temperature ceramic glass and a cast iron frame. The first of many milestones for Wolf Steel. Over the next few years, the demand for quality wood stoves grew beyond Ontario's borders, and representatives throughout Canada and the United States were appointed to facilitate sales.

Heat Transferring Ceramic Glass

Ceramic glass is resistant to breakage under high heat and at the same time provides an excellent temperature transfer allowing maximum heat radiation into the room. Some models use tempered glass.

Fireplace Inserts

Versatile Installation

Install in your home above or below grade, even in bedrooms and bathrooms. Inserts can be installed into existing masonry or prefabricated fireplaces. Direct vent models can be vented up to 20 feet horizontally through a wall, 40 feet vertically through the roof or below grade with a periscope. For all direct vent fireplaces Continental offers the smallest, architecturally pleasing vent terminal in the industry.

Maximum Efficiency

The sealed combustion technology in the Direct Vent models uses outside air for combustion eliminating heat loss and cold drafts associated with conventional fireplaces. All Continental models are designed to maximize efficiency levels with special heat retaining components.
